u|Chief chatted to the founder of The Wedding Boutique, Alex Claxton, who shared her memories of the long road to starting and growing a thriving business that now occupies a unique niche in the Cape Town wedding industry.
Alex talked about her early days as a business owner following her dream to create a wedding boutique that offers something different for local and international brides. For Alex, one of the keys was having the mental strength and resolve to battle through five tough years before her business really started to take off.
“It always works out if you want it bad enough and you’re willing to put in the work,” smiles Alex, who revealed that one of the great challenges she found has been taking each new step to grow her business to the next level, adding that it’s a difficult and testing process which, with hindsight, one would possibly not repeat. However, if you approach this growth in the right manner then your chances of success are pretty strong.
For Alex, an important part of the growth of The Wedding Boutique was opening up their Joburg branch in 2018 to cater for clients looking for wedding dresses in Joburg, as her long-term vision is to create satellite branches in other African countries.
Alex also shared her insights into some of the latest trends and developments in the wedding industry.
